Accreditations and certification on any product development in today's market has become very specialized. However certification is the voluntary practice validating that a Consultant has met minimum requirements, standards and competence in a specialty area. Certification programs are conducted by various agencies. From educational institutions, to companies launching their product, or teaming various members of their team in order to train staff members on their use.
Because of the increase in the number of lawsuits brought against companies for faulty products the Consultant in charge of the curriculum and training programs are advised to carry their own liability insurance. However basic steps and skills apply to this ever-growing sector in the Educational fields. Once the goal is defined there are 2 factors that will inevitably come into play. Acceptance of change or resistance to change. The acceptance of change often takes time in an educational institution particularly when change does not fit into the curriculum in use at the time. However with the correct skills and decisive planning along with excellent verbal and written skills the Consultant can offer the client several key factors.
- Awareness of the new idea, or practice.
- More information about the change.
- Adopts and integrates the change into the present time.
- Evaluate the information and relates it to the present situation.
Curriculums are changed every day however their time line will be based on the amount of change needed to occur. Once documentation, policy, and communication are clear the Consultant will use the principles they have gathered in the next step, the proposal. Working with staff to communicate with participating organizations between trainings• Interfacing with trainers and consultants as necessary. The qualifications and skills of a consultant will include the following:
- Exceptional writing, organization, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and a willingness to travel.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, staff related community, community-based organizations, and issues such as gender violence and immigration rights.
- Proven experience with designing, developing and delivering training for organizations with program planning and implementation.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
