Over the past decade, the management consulting fields have grown rapidly. Management history and consulting is not that old. It began in 1886 with ''The Management Consulting Firm'' founded by Arthur D. Little. The firm originally specialized with research in the Technical industry but with time it evolved into Consultancy and Management. Booz Allen Hamilton was yet another firm breaking into this new field.
This firm served both industry and government clients in 1914.
As this country grew and the economy thrived along with B2B firms began offering their various services however none of them were purely in the Management sector. In 1926 management consultancy began to break into the mainstream of American business. A Chicago based firm McKinsey & Company founded by James O. McKinsey became the grandfather of the true Management Consultancy. They offered strategy and management consultancy. McKinsey still believes that management consultancy firms should continue with their high standards in this global economy. As a matter of fact they were the first firm to introduce policies of hiring College graduates with an MBA in order to give the best service to their clients. The boom began shortly after WWII management consultancy firms were part of the norm. Another firm that made headlines in 1963 was a Boston firm they made headlines by introducing analytical thinking including proven research methods into the ever-growing patterns that we use today.
Once these new methods and studies were established as the tools used in this growing sector of business Harvard Business School joined the Chicago based company McKinsey and set standards that we are still using today.
There are management consultancy firms all over the world, while many countries will claim they were the ones that started this new discipline it cannot be proven. However, fact and recorded history can provide answers. The USA was first in the creation and birth of management consultancy. It was not until after WWII, that the USA started to lead in the market of International trading thus, Management Consultancy was then born in Europe until gradually one exists everywhere in this ever-growing global economy.
Consulting has been around since ancient times although it may have not been referred to as consulting specifically. Every day new methods, strategies, and analysis is proving fare more result oriented to the rich history of Consulting. The methods used in some areas are expanding their reach from local, national and international levels. Consulting is widely used in various companies for accurate decision-making and also used on a personal level.
