This role reports through to the VP OD&L OD Consulting who holds a central and flexible pool of Organisation Development (OD) resources. The consulting community also includes a team of specialist consultants for Team Development and Leadership consulting and Project Management Office (PMO). All consultants will be allocated to strategic change projects across RDS on a flexible basis.
This position sits in a pool of 25 OD consultants and provides consultancy support. The role holder will be deployed to work according to highest value and impact, and by considering the individual expertise, development and overall capability building in the OD Consultant pool. The Managers OD Consulting will provide formal line management for the OD consultants. The day-to-day coaching and direction, and performance feedback of the OD consultants will be via the VP OD&L whose agenda the consultants support.
What is the role?
The Organisation Development (OD) Consultant is a senior expert position within the OD consulting pool in the HR OD & Learning organisation.
The primary focus of the role is to frame, diagnose and address complex organisational challenges that often go across multiple RDS businesses, in order to structurally improve organisational health and performance, using deep OD and change skills and experience, and to expertly apply RDS OD methods and tools.
The role holder should work in an integrated and collaborative way with Managers OD&L, leadership consultants, business leadership teams, HR colleagues, and other internal groups such as Strategy, Transformation Leads and Audit. Collectively, these multi-disciplinary teams work with senior leaders and their leadership teams to help them deliver upon their business objectives and to create the organizational capability needed to drive business performance.
This position works on projects in multiple businesses (e.g. Upstream, IG, Downstream) with a focus on designing and delivering appropriate OD interventions in support of the strategic change agenda of Shell and business objectives.
This role requires the ability to both deliver high quality change outcomes through personal intervention and to lead OD project teams to deliver scaled change programmes. It requires very strong project management skills as every assignment is timebound.
Specifically, the OD Consultant should:
Work with HR, OD, Learning, Strategy, and Audit colleagues as well as with Business and Function clients to think through complex change challenges and define change strategy/approaches/solutions.
Be able to quickly build business intimacy in the different Shell businesses.
Have an outcome focus and be able to move in, quickly scope and deliver an intervention, and move out again.
Deliver top quality organization design, development and change orchestration advice and interventions to support senior Business and Function clients to deliver upon their business objectives and change challenges.
Share the knowledge and experience gained from OD interventions.

What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Master’s degree preferred
Minimum ten (10) years of experience within Organizational Development
Significant experience in leading large scale, complex OD/ change management interventions or business process improvement / Continuous Improvement projects.
The ability to work in a project driven environment: scope, diagnose, deliver, and move on.
Solid understanding of the Shell value chain and various businesses; fast learner who can quickly develop business intimacy and hit the ground running on OD projects.
Talent for working in international and global project teams combined with the ability and confidence to work in high-ambiguity environments where senior leaders may need to be (respectfully) challenged.
Ability to diagnose business/organisation change issues and to identify appropriate type of intervention.
Expert consulting skills with experience in managing client relationships in high-pressure environment.
Flexibility in approach and able to coach and mentor others.
Strong stakeholder management and communications skills.
A Learner Mindset, a curiosity to learn and grow, learn from mistakes, successes and speak up openly in a safe environment.
Relevant degree, postgraduate and working qualifications (e.g. Psychology, Business Administration, Organisation Development, HRM, MBB, etc).
