Job Description:

The IT Advisory role provides support to the IT Manager (ITM) in delivering bottom line value to the business through implementation of innovative, new IT solutions and harvesting existing IT assets to enable the achievement of the business strategy, value drivers and KPIs. The key focus areas of the role are:

Relationship Management:

Support the ITM to drive a One Team mindset; work closely with business stakeholders (below VP/GM level) to understand and influence how IT and the business can align strategic success goals, challenging the business to deliver value for IT dollars invested. Works with the natural team in IT and supports the ITM to ensure all are operating with a commercial mindset and driving measurable value.

Business Intelligence:

Understand the Business and Industry landscape, including strategic priorities, challenges and how this relates to the wider enterprise strategy and competitive landscape. Supports the ITM in contributing to business decisions through strong relationships, business and IT understanding and external market perspectives.

Integrated IT and Business Strategy:

Understand the business and IT strategy, recognize how IT is contributing to the business top and bottom line while utilizing the existing landscape and identify opportunities to grow and transform the business through the deployment of processes, data and technology solutions. Works with business and IT to shape opportunities and align solutions with business strategies. Supports the ITM to captures and maintain the IT strategic response in the IT Strategic Plan.

Innovation:

Supports the ITM to improve organizational performance through the application of original thinking to existing and emerging methods, processes, data, products and services.

IT Portfolio Management:

Supports the ITM with managing demand, capturing detailed business requirements for review and agreed business outcomes. Supports the ITM with the IT Strategic Plan for their business area, ensuring decisions take into account the full lifecycle of the portfolio optimizing investments, operational costs, health and risks to drive business value.

Value Generation:

Provides support to the ITM to develops robust business cases in partnership with business stakeholders and other IT areas, capturing IT expenditures, business changes and business benefits incorporating IT performance metrics, measurements and benefits.

What's the role

The Site IT Business Consultant Data requires hybrid skills such as data visualization and information management skills, knowledge about the principles of data engineering as well as business analyst skills. The following activities are typically the playing field of the role:

Build trusted business relationships at Manufacturing (M) sites, working closely with the business and Site IT to acquire domain knowledge and identify opportunities to turn data into critical information and knowledge that enables higher hands-on-tools time and supports sound decision making.

Deliver Data & Analytics knowledge sessions at M sites to educate M sites on the data lifecycle – how data is created, used, measured, managed, retired. Educate M staff on how to reap more value from effective use of Data Visualisation and Analytics tools as well as highlighting existing data analytics and data quality solutions. Identify and address hurdles destroying value from data.

Fast track the first stages of bringing a site-initiated Data idea to market and guide, advise and support Citizen Developers to build optimal solutions on the MS Power Suite aligned with the M Data strategy – provide tool consultancy as well as education on publishing/IT processes and IRM-compliant data access - work with other Site IT Advisors Data to increase replication potential across sites.

Deliver prototypes in support of Data & Analytics Ideation – facilitate bringing together data sets from disparate sources, cleaning, merging and consolidating for PoC purposes – identify where more expert IT support is required from elsewhere in the organisation and expedite.

Identify legacy Citizen Developed products (e.g. MS Access) and LMA’s, which would benefit from redevelopment on the Power Platform and, where applicable, full transition to IT, as they have become critical/important to the site. Work with Site IT and Business Application Owner to highlight the opportunity to make these solutions more robust, intuitive, automated and secure.

Support the business at site and the M Chief Data Officer (CDO) in the implementation of the M Data Strategy – e.g. by defining and expediting data quality improvement initiatives - how to best organise / who to engage / which tools to use.

There is huge value to unlock from better use of data and information in Manufacturing – it is identified as a key component in staying a competitive business. This “data coach” will support the business at the sites in unlocking that value. The role will provide coaching to the sites Geismar, Norco, Convent, Mobile and Monaca.

The successful candidate will be;

will support the CDO in implementing the M Data strategy at site

This position sits in the Global Sites IT Business Interface Team in Manufacturing IT (Downstream), reports into the Global Sites IT Advisor Data and has no direct reports. You are expected to spend most of the time on the 3 Louisiana sites. Some travel will be required to Monaca (Pennsylvania) and Mobile (Alabama).

Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Minimum five (5) years of corporate IT experience, preferably as a Business Analyst or in IT Service Operations.

Proficiency in app development and data visualization – proven experience with the Power Suite (PowerBI, PowerApps, MS Dynamics, Flow,…) or equivalent tools required.

Information Management and Sharepoint knowledge.

Enthusiastic, energetic, creative and with a passion for Data.

Strong Inquiry and Advocacy skills (consultancy style).

Ability to process/support multiple use cases in parallel is critical.

Able to work in an agile way.

Asset/Manufacturing/Upstream knowledge.

Interest and ability to understand the business strategy, value drivers, processes and challenges and to use this to identify opportunities for IT to drive greater business value.

A good understanding of technology deployments in the market and their relevance to driving business value for their business area.

Strong business analysis skills and the ability to shape opportunities into project proposals.

Good communication and influencing skills and a collaborative approach for use in engaging with both business and IT stakeholders.

Previous experience identifying and maturing business IT opportunities.
