NBBJ’s Workplace Consulting Team believes that everyone deserves a good day at work. Our team focuses on understanding the people in each organization and creating workplace strategies that enable them to do their best work. Our research-based methodology requires a passion for learning and making connections between the science of human behavior, the organizational needs of our clients, and the impact of space on people.Why this role is important to NBBJ:We are seeking a Workplace Consultant who can provide excellent consulting services for our clients and augment our team with additional business development skills. Our Seller / Doer model means that everyone on our team participates in the development of client relationships, pursues and wins work, completes client engagements, and delivers solutions. This candidate will also have familiarity with the design industry, deep curiosity and empathy, and a passion for understanding organizations and their people.In your new role:Work with our team to craft business development strategies and lead marketing pursuitsParticipate in and ultimately lead consulting projects by engaging with clients, building tool kits, conducting qualitative and quantitative studies (such as surveys or focus groups), analyzing outcomes collected through engagements, and crafting workplace solutions.Help develop space programs and space typologies, developing early concepts and innovations in the workplace.Translate findings into space programs, phasing plans and broader master plans.Become expert in the changing nature of work and the impact that has on the physical environment.What you will need to succeed: A background in business development to help uncover opportunities and open doors for the team A passion for absorbing information, synthesizing findings, and framing problems but not necessarily solving them in a traditional design sense Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and graphic The ability to craft a research engagement tuned to specific project needs The ability to synthesize and coalesce information from multiple sources into clear, cohesive strategies and relevant work place experiencesThe ability to take initiative and complete tasks efficiently, while managing multiple deadlines The ability to work in a collaborative, virtual team environment while being comfortable with ambiguity and a loose structure The ability to travel to, and work with, all of NBBJ’s offices and clients both domestically and internationally Ideally will have five years of experience working with clients and design teams on corporate projects.
