We are seeking NetBackup Architects, Implementation Specialists, and Administrators
for our growing Professional Services team.
The premier candidates for this position will have the following technical skills / background, preferably on both Windows and UNIX platforms:
* Veritas NetBackup Enterprise Architecture / Design / Implementation and/or Administration
* Veritas Bare Metal Restore (BMR)
* Veritas Shared Storage Option (SSO)
* Veritas NetBackup Advanced Client
* Veritas Backup to Disk (B2D)
* Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL) Experience
* NetBackup PureDisk
* NetBackup 7.x, 6.x
* NetBackup Appliance 5xxx, nice to have
NetBackup Architect
In this role you will be responsible for NetBackup analysis, architecture, installation and configuration of Symantec’s NetBackup product.
Must be a TECHNICAL EXPERT in the following areas:
* NetBackup (NBU) architecture (including compliance architectures) and functionality of all application components such as Master Servers, Media Servers, Clients, daemons, robotic control, etc.
* NetBackup installation and configuration
* Experience in modifying the NetBackup application to meet business requirements
* Splitting and merging NetBackup Catalogs
* Upgrading the NetBackup application
* Excellent NetBackup analytical and troubleshooting skills
* Strong hands on practical experience and knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies (i.e. EMC, NetApp, etc)
* Strong knowledge of NetBackup command line commands
* Custom Scripting (i.e. Shell, PERL)
* Supportable philosophies on data protection best practices with an astute understanding of the product options available. You must be able to provide recommendations and support them to meet the Client's business objectives.
NetBackup Implementation Specialist
In this role your primary responsibilities will be to assist Clients with implementations, upgrades, configurations, trouble shooting and daily operation of their NetBackup solutions. You will assume a key role in providing ongoing expertise for Client’s tactical and strategic NetBackup related initiatives.
* Assist Client with implementation, upgrade, and configuration of NetBackup solutions.
* Assist Client with daily monitoring and management of the NetBackup solution implemented within the Client’s infrastructure.
* Assist Client in the testing and deployment of scheduled NetBackup product updates and patches.
* When necessary assist in issue troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of NetBackup solutions currently installed within the Client infrastructure.
* Assist Client in process to ensure environment and software compatibility of NetBackup solutions to be installed, implemented, or otherwise used.
* Monitor backup jobs, execute restore jobs, restart failed jobs.
* Execute vaulting process and daily tape management
* Handle NetBackup support issues, coordinate communications between Client’s operations staff and Symantec customer support staff to resolve complex issues, and to assist in escalating issues.
* Through discussions and demonstration, provide periodic informal on-site knowledge transfer, as needed to designated Client employees covering the management, normal operation, and maintenance of the NetBackup infrastructure.
* Monitor sources, including Symantec DeepSight, Symantec Platinum bulletins for new vulnerability and threat alerts.
NetBackup Administrator
In this role you will be responsible for performing daily backup and restore duties in the Client environment.
* Evaluate and ensure Client is getting most out of the hardware and software deployed, considering network, server/storage hardware and tape operations.
* Analyze the existing environment and perform an operational review. The goal is to ensure that Client's backup environment is running optimally and setup to Best Practices.
* Examine backup classes and provide recommendations to re-engineer them if required.
* Examine and provide recommendations to improve backup and restore speeds as required.
* Recommend efficient and flexible configuration of storage units and services.
* Recommend methods and strategies to improve performance, scalability and availability.
* Examine current and projected loads and data growth for the purpose of capacity planning.
* Make recommendations for architecture improvement based on reliability gains and projected growth.
* Provide recommendations on Client staff training.
