Workforce Training Consultant
. In 2015, UM launched the
Center for Children, Families, and Workforce Development
(The Center) to help improve the lives of children and youth and the parents, caregivers, and professionals responsible for their care, treatment, and education. The Center serves as a training and research hub that collects and disseminates the most current and scientifically proven actions to prevent problem behaviors, effectively respond to troubled youth, better educate and train child welfare professionals, replicate evidence-based practices that promote family health, and connect Montana's wealth of practice wisdom to promote positive youth development.
The Center collaborates with the Child and Family Services Division (CFSD) to develop, implement, oversee, and evaluate the Montana Child Welfare Coaching Program and a variety of competency-based training to promote staff professional development and ongoing training needs. The Center employs Workforce Training Consultants whose primary purpose is to coach and train employees of the CFSD and other professionals and caregivers who work with children and families involved in Montana's child welfare system and assure the quality and integrity of the coaching and training program.
The Workforce Training Consultant travels throughout Montana to provide group and individual coaching and training. These positions work cooperatively with Child Protection Supervisors, Trainers, and Regional Management teams throughout Montana to assess, plan, develop, and implement staff training plans for their employees. The Workforce Training Consultant also participates in CFSD's case review process.
The Workforce Training Consultant provides leadership with the transfer of learning to practice, training resources, child welfare, and family services best and emerging practices, and strategic planning regarding the training needs of the CFSD's employees and other related professionals and caregivers working with children and families involved with Montana's child welfare system. This position is supervised through The Center and works cooperatively with the CFSD's staff, supervisors, regional administrators, and training specialists using sensitivity and diplomacy to ensure clear, effective communication and collaboration.
This position requires travel for up to one week throughout Montana and possibly out of state if needed. This position requires a person who is willing and able to drive Montana roadways year-round. Due to the specificity of this work and the complicated nature of Child Protection, this position requires a person with previous work experience with the CFSD.
Additional Job Responsibilities Include:
Coach Montana’s CFSD’s employees utilizing the Montana Child Welfare Coaching Model
Plan, develop, implement, and revise training curricula for CFSD employees and other professionals and caregivers who are working with children and families involved with Montana’s child welfare system
Implement coaching competencies to create coaching relationships through partnership, expectations, agreements, and engage hard to engage workers
Partner with workers and members of the training team to:
Assess the worker’s skill level, plan and set goals to address strengths and areas for growth, develop training and coaching plans to address workers areas for growth
Establish accountability for the coach, the learner, and the training team
