We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Audio Visual Technician (Information Technology Consultant-Expert). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. The Audio Visual (AV) Technician works in conjunction with project management to administer complex AV systems from inception to completion and client acceptance. Systems include conference rooms, auditoriums, sound and projection systems, and Video conferencing (VTC). The Audio visual Technician is responsible for the design, testing , installation and support of complex audio/visual systems. Creates designs that integrate various audio visual control systems. Ongoing project coordination to coordinate work between multiple departments to facilitate the installation of Audio Visual Systems. Oversees purchasing process of all audio visual equipment and works with Project Manager in facilitation of obtaining appropriate documentation such as the VPAT (voluntary Product Accessibility Template) and the ATI (Accessibility Technology Initiative). Works completely independent on complex engineering and design work assignments with minimal input from his manager. Possesses advanced job knowledge and certifications for programming, design, and implementations of complex audio-visual systems. Designs audio visual systems for learning spaces across campus. Using experience and knowledge, develops advanced and highly customized audio visual systems utilizing the latest technologies in innovative ways for various spaces across the campus that include but are not limited to; computer labs, collaboration systems, and teleconferencing rooms. Leads the implementation of these advanced projects by coordinating the work with multiple on campus groups such as Facilities Operations, Telecommunications, and the Classroom Fulfillment Team. By leading these projects, the Audio Visual Technician leads staff members to assigns tasks, sets installation schedules, and coordinates support work to ensure timely and successful completion of the projects. Designs, configures, and installs the audio system via network to various places on campus. Works closely with Facilities Operations to ensure classroom equipment integrates with current and future building technology and safety standards. Has expertise and the ability to independently program and configure the Extron System. Has expertise and the ability to work independently in computer operating systems and network application. Leads and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in AV installation projects. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field and five years of relevant full-time experience. Twelve years of relevant full-time experience or an associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and seven years of relevant full-time experience may be substituted for the previously listed education and experience requirement. Advanced knowledge of the work area demonstrated by an understanding and use of the advanced principles and theories. Ability to integrate and apply work related knowledge to achieve innovative solutions, anticipate the impact of problems and solutions on other systems, investigate and research new systems and technologies, and develop complex information technology systems and solutions. Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective. Ability to explore, conceive, and implement solutions and ideas in new ways. Ability to predict and anticipate problems and create proactive solutions. Demonstrated communication expertise using persuasion and negotiation. Ability to lead technical team efforts and assess skills within a team and work to build on individual strengths to maximize team results. Ability to teach and transfer knowledge and skills to others. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. Preferred Qualifications: Five years of relevant full-time experience. A minimum of five years of Crestron, Extron, and AMX control system experience. Experience conducting site surveys and designing and installing audio visual solutions. Experience with control systems, video-conferencing, switching hardware, and audio DSP setup and calibration. Knowledge of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, addressing, firewalls, routers, vlans, and VPN. Experience with AMX RPM. Ability to develop designs that meet customer functional and budgetary requirements.
