What's the role
As an IT Business Consultant to the Site IT Manager for Gulf Coast you will have a broad scope of responsibility, helping us to exploit Information Technology to achieve smarter, faster and cheaper business operations at the Downstream Chemicals Manufacturing site at Convent, Louisiana.
On one hand, you will be using your expertise in both IT and business analysis to drive our business intelligence, spotting opportunities and informing future strategy that will keep us ahead of the market. On the other hand, you will strengthen your knowledge of these latest technologies, to ensure that data, processes and technology solutions are integrated and embedded in a robust way in the daily ways of working at site.
The Convent Site IT team creates business value on top of a foundation of business continuity and further stabilizing and improving the IT landscape at the Convent site. The Site IT team will be first point of contact for helping business and IT colleagues implement innovative IT solutions at site and identify and resolve concerns, boosting IT performance to bring the maximum value to the business.
A self-starter with excellent organisational skills, it is your talent for communications that will see you succeed. Working collaboratively with a range of business and IT stakeholders, locally and centrally, you will help to impart a unified understanding of how IT enables the business processes, managing expectations and influencing decision-making. You will take ownership on a wide variety of IT related activities and drive these through to conclusion to deliver the desired business outcome. You will collaborate with various teams in our IT community to deliver results, e.g. Service Operations, Competency Centre, Information Risk Management, Architecture etc.
This role is an excellent opportunity to get to know a Manufacturing Asset and how IT can affect the daily operations at site. The ITA is a member of the Gulf Coast Site IT team, which is end to end accountable for all aspects of IT delivery (operations, projects and strategy).

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum five (5) years of corporate IT experience, preferably as a Business Analyst or in IT Service Operations.
Experience within the field and a familiarity with heavy industry processes (for example chemicals, automotive, utilities, etc.) is desirable.
Relevant knowledge of Downstream Manufacturing (Refinery and Chemicals) Business environment and awareness of the associated business processes.
Familiarity with IT infrastructure support and telecoms – IT infrastructure is an important aspect of e.g. turnarounds and other CAPEX projects .
Able to work closely with site stakeholders at all levels to build trust and understand their goals, motivations, constraints, risks, and operating environment.
Strong One Team mindset – seamless collaboration with a variety of IT colleagues in the IT organization (operations, architects competency center, project management,…)
Resilience and courage to challenge and manage business expectations. Guiding business stakeholders to gain acceptance / sign-off despite competing objectives.
A commercial mindset coupled with a strong interest in and understanding of the business.
Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and influencing skills and a collaborative approach in engaging with both business and IT stakeholders.
Ability to describe technology in terms easily understood by business customers and set realistic customer expectations for the solution.
As located outside the Shell's 4 IT hubs it is key to be a natural networker to get to the right information and to right people – mostly contained in these IT hubs.
