Pluck, a division of Demand Media, is looking for an ambitious Technical Consultant to help enterprise-class customers like Ford, L’Oréal, Whole Foods Market, Redbox, Nestlé, Walgreens and Mattel turn their web sites into engaging social destinations, using Pluck’s outstanding software platform for digital community experiences.
Technical Consultants educate and guide customer teams in implementing Pluck, as well as develop custom software to fit particular customers’ needs. You will work in a fast-paced environment, promising interesting new challenges on a regular basis. This includes the opportunity to program in multiple languages and solve demanding integrations with other enterprise systems, such as ecommerce platforms.

Occasional travel throughout the US and Canada is required (around 20% travel).
Responsibilities:
Work closely with name-brand customers to successfully implement Pluck-based communities
Provide hands-on implementation/development guidance and training
Perform Pluck configuration and implementation troubleshooting
Perform data migrations
Manage your workflow to deliver business solutions on time, on budget and in scope
Collaborate with our Customer Success Managers to help customers continuously improve community performance and deepen their engagement with Pluck
Deliver end-to-end custom solutions using Pluck APIs (among others), taking such projects from requirements gathering through completion
Consult with the sales team to help turn prospects into new customers
Work with the product management team to deliver prototypes, proofs of concept, and other market-facing product enhancements
Requirements:
5 years of web software development experience (must have demonstrated competency with HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, JavaScript, and related debugging tools; server-side languages a major plus)
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Experience in a customer-facing role a plus
Very strong verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting complex information to an audience of strangers
Ability to speak geek at the right time, while also understanding business objectives
Proven experience using APIs to build software, and the ability to quickly come up to speed on new APIs and programming languages
Understanding of basic topics like HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL, REST
Experience with search engine optimization a plus
Ability to simultaneously juggle several projects at once while keeping your cool, even when customers don’t make it easy
Solid familiarity with common social media tools like Facebook and Twitter
Desire to continuously improve and excel
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, along with the challenge of helping customer teams with varying levels of technical expertise
Occasional travel throughout the US and Canada (~20% travel)
