Job Description:

As part of the ERP Technical Operations team, the Technical SAP OLM is responsible for delivering secure and reliable operations of ERP applications and its complex integrations with Hybrid on premise and cloud based connected applications. Purpose of the role is to reduce the impact of technical incidents via timely escalation, avoid recurrence of technical incidents via pro-active monitoring and problem management and deliver delivers improvement initiatives (reliability, UX, performance, cost) in close collaboration with the Infrastructure and Application suppliers as well as ERP Software vendors, primarily SAP.

This role can also include responsibilities in the areas of Change Planning, Capacity Management, Total Cost of Ownership, Asset Integrity and SAP Technical Security Remediation.

Accountabilities

ERP Technical Operations


Contribute to service restoration for severe incidents related to SAP technical, infrastructure, integrations, desktop environment or application performance, using the global, 24x7 reach of the Shell and Eco-system organization (Suppliers, SAP, SaaS providers …). Contribute to complex RCA’s across multi-vendor and multi-disciplinary teams.
Use incident, monitoring and trend data to prevent interruptions and initiate remediation of reliability risks.
Contribute or lead continuous improvements to increase end-to-end performance, reduce costs or improve user experience. This includes coordinating deep-dives with software vendors and suppliers and following up on SAP Early-Watch Alert.
Ensure execution of quality E2E and Integration Technical Monitoring, leveraging SAP Solution Manager.
Leverage automation and capabilities of ServiceNow for agile operations.
Ensure regulatory and compliance controls are embedded in landscape operations and assist with evidence collection.


Change and Capacity Management


Contribute to planning and coordinating of technical change across landscapes. Inclusive of application updates, operating systems & DB updates, security fixes, hardware migrations.
Contribute to hosting platform optimization, including assessment and technical delivery of migrations to cloud.
Contribute to planning and forecasting for capacity and asset integrity.
Participate in reviews of proposed technical design for new solutions and contribute to impact assessment.
Review infrastructure or application technical changes and contribute to AtO and AtD sign-off for projects impacting the DS ERP landscapes.


Service and Integration Management


Ensure suppliers deliver expected service scope, contribute to effective operational integration of the infrastructure suppliers, SaaS providers and application managed service providers.
Build relationships with the supplier operations teams and maintain lists of key operational contacts.


Dimensions and Special Challenges


No direct reports. Indirect Reports in Managed Service teams supporting Shell's applications.
Approximately 44 application landscapes in portfolio, mainly SAP. Majority is business critical and 7x24, with complex landscapes including Portals, ERP, BW as well as Hana and Solution Manager.
Virtual working in a global environment with culturally diverse teams. Managing multiple delivery priorities. Working with multiple stakeholders in various organizations.
Risks - License to Operate, Global reputation, $100's of millions at risk. Failure within these systems could have effects on Shell's reputation.

Requirements:


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor's Degree required. Degree related to Information Technology preferred.
Minimum five (5) years' overall experience with at least three (3) years relevant experience in either SAP technical operations or technical delivery.
Experience in applications support and support processes, specifically ITIL.
Strong communication and relationship skills to work with multiple stakeholders across organizational and business boundaries at all levels.
Ability to deal with conflict and ambiguity effectively.
Ability to handle concurrent tasks with appropriate priority.
Ability to operate in a virtual cross-cultural organization.
Proven skills in ABAP Performance tuning OR SAP to Cloud integrations are preferred.
Comprehensive understanding of key business processes in Downstream Oil and Gas preferred.
Experience in IT Service Management preferred.
