Development and Subsurface, this organisation will be the home of an integrated One Subsurface team that will drive improved value creation across the lifecycle of our assets. As we transition to more data driven and digitalisation savvy organisation, Technical Data Management (TDM) & Workflow teams are vital to how we deliver quality data and efficient workflow solutions to support subsurface excellent and digitalisation agenda. You’re going to be a key part of our TDM & Workflow team of professionals who have hybrid skills, are passionate about helping Shell use data, efficient workflow, and digital skills in a broader sense to support businesses via consultancy to make better decisions and run safer and more efficiently.

What’s the role?

The Geological consultant will be part of the TDM & Workflow team providing expertise and services to deliver proactive day-to-day workflow support, in specific Production Geologist & Petrophysics discipline user’s base. You’ll thrive on providing competitive insights and advice, critical in leading delivery of Top Quartile workflow support for Subsurface and Wells community backed by solid data and advanced subsurface application. More specifically, your role will be:


Accountable for optimizing use of differentiated technology (applications & infrastructure) in conjunction with technical information (data & documents) and maximizing the value they obtain from Petrophysics (Techlog) & Production Geologist (Petrel, PetroSigns/ JewelSuite) software.
Proactive in deploying current approved discipline technologies (e.g., PetroSigns/ JewelSuite) and related best practice workflows in the business; define and execute workflow testing and validate new systems and upgrade to enable smooth deployment to users.
Driving technology uptake and penetration; proactively reviews user workflows to identify opportunities to innovate through technology adoption. Demonstrates ability to research and resolve technology issues and provide a feedback loop from users to Shell and third-party technology development teams.
Responsible in creating and maintaining discipline technology roadmaps, business plans, and activity plans aligned with equivalent global plans. Supports the management of local approved step-out applications and related workflows.
Maintaining excellent working relationships with the business, key service providers or third-party software vendors and Shell global development teams including relevant global program and project managers. Lead and extend professional relationships with other Applications & Workflow teams across all relevant locations, incorporating virtual working.
In collaboration with PetroSigns Earth/ JewelSuite deployment team, actively deploy and develop migration plan from Petrel to PetroSigns/ JewelSuite platform, including preparation for Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) deployment.
Providing relevant compliance information to business for assurance and license to operate purposes. Ensure that all legal and contractual obligations are followed and adhered to regulatory bodies, government agencies and partners.
Contributing to the design and delivery of specialized training events
Identifying, planning, and driving delivery of continuous improvement (CI) opportunities and digitalization initiatives.


What we need from you?

When it comes to trusted data at your fingertips and efficient workflow support, it’s your competence in leading the delivery of workflow support towards the discipline and integration with other domains (in consultation with principals, business, and IT leadership) that will make a difference. Furthermore, you will have:


A Bachelors or master’s degree in Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering
Proven experience in Geological modeling, geological interpretation, and Petrophysics analysis
Substantial understanding of the data flows around the discipline landscape and its integration with other disciplines. Sustain the required level of integration in line with data model and software changes.
Advanced skill in Petrel and Techlog applications, sufficient knowledge of the Subsurface and Wells databases such as CDS, RECALL, OpenWorks
Sufficient familiarity of analytics tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI etc) and the basic programming languages such as Oracle, MySQL, or Python will be a plus
Advanced knowledge of Business Delivery Frameworks, assurance processes across the business lifecycle, and the associated business processes.

Significant experience in strategic consultancy
Proven change management and effective communication skills
Excellent oral and written presentation skills, including customer support training.
