The Integrated Front End Development and Modelling Delivery Group in Shell Projects & Technology provides delivers a range of consultancy services: Masterplanning, Front End Project Development, Process Integration, Business Improvement Reviews, Strategy and Portfolio Studies, Hydrocarbon Margin and Network Optimization. We also deliver a broad suite of training courses as well as safety, integrity and technical assurance reviews. Our Oil Movements and Logistics experts engage in basic process design of storage, handling and blending facilities, hydrocarbon stock management, loss studies and product quality best practice support. Technology innovation is addressed through our efforts in R&D in the fields of feed and product flexibility, end-to-end hydrocarbon supply chain optimization, basic data generation and economic modelling. Our customers include Shell, JVs, NoVs and 3rd Party companies.
What’s the role -
The role of the Senior Masterplanner is to provide services in Hydrocarbon Management and Projects in areas related to Strategy studies (Technology strategy, Investment strategy), Portfolio support (Mergers & Acquisitions, Due diligence), Capital Investment Masterplanning incl. Carbon and Energy, integrated Margin Improvement in the Hydrocarbon supply chain and Business Improvement Reviews.
The Senior Masterplanner is a leading service provider with broad technology, economic and projects knowledge, effective personal leadership, excellent team working, stakeholder management and communication skills. He/she will drive successful outcomes to Shell and its stakeholders’ businesses across the full Hydrocarbon Supply Chain, either directly as preferred service provider or indirectly by generating opportunities through services to strategic third parties and JVs.
The Senior Hydrocarbon Masterplanner reports to the Regional Team Lead Hydrocarbon Management and FEDM and mostly works for customers in his/her region. Opportunities to deliver projects in other regions will arise from time to time.
Accountabilities:
Deliver Masterplanning and Strategic studies (Identify phase) to Shell, JVs, NOVs and 3P customers in the areas of Refining, Chemicals and New Energies. The investment studies will span greenfield and brownfield sites. Masterplans will consider a range of economically attractive technical pathways to achieve the goals of the sponsors.
Develop and use hydrocarbon optimization models to identify and support growth opportunities. Spiral Plan is the LP of choice for fast paced, highly integrated hydrocarbon masterplanning studies
Develop project economic models to support the identified masterplanning opportunities.
Take a role in leading multi-disciplinary teams for the development of strategic investment pathways which meet future demands realizing the best end-to-end margin potential, given environmental, legislative requirements and future business goals.
Drive Shell’s Energy Transition agenda and lead Strategic Masterplans aimed at greenhouse gas reduction in brownfield sites and greenfield projects. Demonstrate credible pathways to Net Zero Emissions in short-, medium- and long- term horizons
Lead Margin Improvement consultancy services, standalone or as part of Opportunity Confirmation Programs to 3P and NOV customers
Lead or participate in Business Improvement Reviews (BIR), and Focused Delivery Teams (FDTs) to develop prioritized solutions and tactics for the realization of identified benefits. Coach and work closely with the client through systematic implementation of proposals
Ad-hoc support and involvement in portfolio and divestment studies (Mergers & Acquisitions, Due Diligence)
Support Licensing Technology Managers, TSA Account Managers and Catalyst Sales Executives to deploy our offerings in 3P sites and at the same time build long-term relationships with customers, including stakeholder management at highest levels in their organizations
Contribute to delivering a high technical utilization target within the department
Foster sustainable partner relationships in Downstream Refining and Chemicals
Sustainably diversify PTX/C/F services in New Energies and Integrated Gas domains
Comply with HSSE, Group, Regulatory and other appropriate standards
Support the Principal Technical Experts (TA1s) in Masterplanning and Process Integration in developing and maintaining technologies, services, work processes and toolboxes
Role model the leadership behaviors and focus on coaching and development of staff (a.o. teaching HCM related masterclasses).
Skills and Requirements
What we need form you –
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
The position requires a person with minimum 10 yrs of Downstream Refining/Chemicals and/or Integrated Gas manufacturing experience with hands-on track record of carrying out business development and margin improvement activities
Skill level in Economics and Scheduling as well as Business Development. Awareness of multiple process technologies.
Prior LP experience is desired, but not a requirement
Awareness of biofuels technologies and the LCFS / RFS regulatory landscape are desired
Must have a track record in providing services to customers and working in a manufacturing environment; good understanding of the end-to-end hydrocarbon supply chain is highly valued
Ability to develop customer relations effectively at appropriate levels in the client organization
Effective coach & facilitator, listens well and a good communicator
Innovative mindset and change management experience is desirable
Solid technical background (e.g. Chemical Engineering)
Within the group, the incumbent will work closely with Strategy Advisors, Business Opportunity Managers, Project Managers, Site Leadership Teams, Licensing Managers, Technical Service Managers, Catalyst Sales Executives and Supply/Trading Leadership. It is joining these efforts together which makes the job challenging and a great learning experience.
The role will often be at the interface between various businesses, customers and tools hence breadth and depth of expertise is essential.
