Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced strategy consultant with a passion for information and digital technologies and innovation. This is a chance to make your mark on Shell’s future as a net-zero emissions energy business, working closely with leaders across our businesses and helping to develop a growing team.

Where you fit in

The world faces energy challenges that are becoming more complex each day. We’re looking for people who share our passion for developing leading edge technologies to take on these challenges, helping to put Shell at the forefront of technical innovation that will transform the way we do business, and beyond. As an Information and Digital Technology Strategy Consultant you will be part of Shell’s ‘IDT Strategy Consulting Centre of Excellence’. Working across the entire Shell Group, you will use your consulting experience to deliver technology-enabled long-term business strategies.

What’s the role?

You will be working within a talented team that is focused on complex projects, new business and IT domains, looking at ways IT and digital can drive Shell’s business performance and the energy transition. Your experience in IT strategy consulting means you enjoy working on cutting-edge technology strategies and are confident working in a complex and challenging IT context. You are well versed in using structured problem-solving techniques and - acting as a facilitator, advisor, and consultant - will support the development of long-term IT and digital strategies across the different Shell businesses, allowing our most senior decision makers to create business value and set our future direction.

More specifically, you’ll be leading IT and Digital Strategy development for Shell’s Business and functions. As a consultant, you will typically manage engagements independently, or lead a workstream within a strategic initiative.

Working well under pressure, you analyse the Business strategy and goals existing technology portfolio, review trends and innovations in the market and understand and synthesize the dynamic landscape your internal clients operate in. This allows you to work towards strategic insights and provide your clients with structured and actionable advice, such as technology investment roadmaps, identification of new customer Products and Services, and/or partnering/innovation opportunities, backed up by a solid dataset and business case.

Your excellent people skills will be crucial here, as you nurture stakeholder relationships at every level to influence and drive our strategies, and importantly your facilitation skills to bring people together and collaborate on bold strategies.

Requirements

We’re keen to hear from applicants who have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in IT and/or Management, along with relevant IT experience and knowledge of digital technologies. Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:

Experience in IT or Digital Strategy Consulting, working on complex strategy projects within large organisations, for example with a top-tier consulting firm
Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills; ability to collect, understand and model data quickly and effectively.
Understanding frameworks and approaches to facilitate strategic problem solving and collaborative strategy development.
Good knowledge of business strategy, from data analysis and industry challenges, to business direction and problem solving.
Strong understanding of the terminology, metrics, and calculations relevant to business-specific measures and KPIs, such as return on investment (ROI), stakeholder value, benefits realization and capability improvement.
Strong communications skills, with the ability to work within a team that’s collaborative and customer-centric, and nurture relationships with a range of stakeholders.
