Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Job responsibilities:
The post is fixed term, with a provisional 10 PA job plan that is outlined in the Job description.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated anaesthetist who will join our busy department to provide emergency and elective work. The role is in general fields of anaesthesia based at all hospital sites of the trust, however opportunities in specialist areas will be available based on appropriate specialist expertise such as cardio-thoracic and vascular, cardiology, major surgery, renal transplant, regional and orthopaedics, robotic surgery and urology.
This post does not include contributing to the anaesthesia On-call rota.
The post holder will be expected to participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
In addition to clinical work, other experience in education, teaching and training, governance, leadership and research will be seen as a major advantage.

Professional Qualifications

Essential criteria Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise.
On GMC Specialist Register have obtained CCT by commencement of post.
Appropriate Career progression to be applying for a locum Consultant post to fit in with future plans and recent career path.
Desirable criteria Higher degree e.g. MD, MBA etc (recognised by the University of
Able to commence employment within one month of interview.
Recent CCT with additional experience
Unique experience which would could bring in a new contribution to the Consultant Team
Clinical Experience

Essential criteria Comprehensive clinical experience in Anaesthesia equivalent to UK CCT
Desirable criteria Additional fellowships in a specialist areas
Overseas experience in an international centre of excellence
Clinical Skills

Essential criteria Evidence of Life support course activity in the last 3 years
Evidence of Abilty to work independently at consultant level
CV matches the requirements of the post in terms of clinical specialist areas within the Trust
Desirable criteria Additional diplomas/certificates in specialist areas including Regional Anaesthesia, ICM, Echo, Perioperative Medicine
Research. Teaching skill & experience

Essential criteria Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research.
Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
Desirable criteria Evidence of original research

Leadership / Management skills
