The Information and Digital Technology (IDT) Strategy Consulting Centre of Excellence is a team of experienced information and digital technology strategy consulting professionals within Shell. We work across the entire Shell Group, developing leading-edge IT and digital strategies for our Businesses in support of Shell’s future as a net-zero emissions energy organisation.
We work closely with business, IT and digital leaders across our organisation and focus on our most complex business transformation challenges.
The IT and digital strategies that we work on are extremely varied in nature. These could include (but are not limited to) IT and digital strategy development in support of; new revenue streams, new business models, new/changed business capabilities or innovative new technologies in support of delivering the energy transition.
Where you fit in
We’re seeking Senior IT and Digital Strategy Consultants to join our CoE leadership team to both shape and deliver leading-edge strategies, and to help build and develop a growing team across the UK and Netherlands.
What’s the role?
You will be working within a talented team that is focused on complex projects, new business and IT domains, looking at ways IT and digital can drive both Shell’s business performance and the energy transition. Your experience in IT and Digital strategy consulting means you enjoy working on leading-edge technology strategies and are confident working in a complex and challenging IT context.
You are well versed in using structured problem-solving techniques and - acting as a facilitator, advisor, and consultant - will support the shaping and development of long-term IT and digital strategies across the different Shell businesses, allowing our most senior decision makers to create business value and set our future direction.
Working well under pressure, you will help shape and structure unstructured problem statements, analyse Business strategy and goals, existing technology portfolios, review trends and innovations in the market and understand and synthesize the dynamic landscape your internal clients operate in. This allows you to work towards strategic insights and provide your clients with structured and actionable advice, such as technology investment roadmaps, identification of new customer Products and Services, and/or partnering/innovation opportunities, backed up by a solid dataset and business case.
Your excellent people skills will be crucial here, as you nurture stakeholder relationships at every level to influence and drive our strategies, and importantly your facilitation skills to bring people together and collaborate on bold strategies.
You will also act as a leader and mentor in supporting skills development of our more junior resources across the CoE.
What we need from you
We’re keen to hear from applicants who have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in IT and/or Management, along with experience in senior IT or Digital Strategy Consulting roles, and knowledge of digital technologies. Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:
Extensive experience in IT or Digital Strategy Consulting, working on complex strategy projects within large organisations, preferably with a top-tier consulting firm
Leadership of teams, people development
Experience working internationally, within a multi-national organisation
Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills; ability to collect, understand and model data quickly and effectively.
Understanding frameworks and approaches to facilitate strategic problem solving and collaborative strategy development.
Good knowledge of business strategy, from data analysis and industry challenges, to business direction and problem solving.
Strong understanding of the terminology, metrics, and calculations relevant to business-specific measures and KPIs, such as return on investment (ROI), stakeholder value, benefits realization and capability improvement.
Strong communications skills, with the ability to work within a team that’s collaborative and customer-centric, and nurture relationships with a range of stakeholders.
