Aon is looking for a Senior SQL Consultant - Health Solutions Analytics As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by supporting our health solutions practice in delivering innovative and effective solutions based on Data & Analytics working out of either our Chicago or Lincolnshire, IL offices with potential flexibility to work out of other Aon offices in the US. Your impact as a Senior SQL Consultant - Health Solutions Analytics Overview This position is part of our broader Health Analytics Intelligence team, which falls under Aon's national Actuarial and Analytics practice; however, our team infuses with many of the other high-visibility Aon business units as well. Our team of individuals excel at assessing customers’ data-based needs and ensuring customers (internal and external) receive a high value return. The team is a mix of data managers, data scientists, reporting analysts, SQL/SSIS/MS Office/Tableau/PowerBI/Python/R programming experts, statisticians, actuaries, and custom solution architects. Our group delivers or supports a wide array of reporting tools, special projects, and methodology development to address the complex analytic needs of our data-driven clients. Job Responsibilities:Collaborate with a team of experienced actuaries, data scientists, developers and business experts to build flexible and scalable data management and delivery tools to support Aon’s data, analytics and reporting capabilitiesDesign, build and maintain scalable pipelines from raw data ingestion through final data consumption by diverse applicationsDevelop and integrate an automated data validation and quality control mechanism throughout the pipelineAdhere to design philosophy emphasizing agile, efficient/simple/elegant and robust development to meet complex and highly dynamic business needsContribute to the design of our data lake and the development of all data assets and downstream warehouses/martsDiscover and develop opportunities for automation to minimize the need for manual intervention and streamline processingMaintain up-to-date technical and operational documentationManage/run/improve existing SQL Server based reports and processesParticipate in migration of data from existing SQL server based processes into big data/cloud based platformsAssist in database performance tuning and data lifecycle managementRequired Experience:5 years of experience in a data analyst capacity Construction of data pipelines ingesting diverse, high volume data sources into a database or data lake and populating a structured warehouse or data mart Experience in Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google etc) and Big Data (Apache Spark, Databricks, Hadoop etc) technologies Knowledge of data security and privacy practices and regulations, including data access controls and de-identification and protection of sensitive dataStrong working knowledge with a relational database system (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) including stored procedures, SSIS, SQL Agent, etc.Experience building reports in excel using macrosProven ability to convey technical information successfully to a wide variety of stakeholdersDemonstrable ability to pick up new technology and solutions requiredPreferred Experience:Knowledge of Agile Scrum and Continuous Delivery practices is desirableExperience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) is an advantageExperience working with medical and prescription drug claims data is an advantageFamiliarity with R would be an advantage Familiarity with benefits or health administrative data including procedure coding, diagnostic coding, financial fields, etc. is a plusEducation:BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent We offer you A competitive total rewards package, continuing education & training, and tremendous potential with a growing worldwide organization.
