Overview of Job
The Business Intelligence Consultant shall professionally perform computer programming, software and or database development, systems analysis, systems development, professional engineering, consulting, technical writing or other specialized technical work as directed for SCS and our clients using his or her own discretion and independent judgment. The Business Intelligence Consultant will be tasked with understanding customer needs and proposing specific solutions based on Microsoft’s BI Platform (SQL Server components such as Reporting Services, Integration Services, and Analysis Services; PowerPivot, Power View, PerformancePoint Services, etc.). The Business Intelligence Consultant will also be involved in working independently to prepare technical proposals, solution presentations and statements of work.
Duties
 Build business intelligence solutions to customer specifications
 Mentor/Train others in business intelligence-relates skills
 Perform business analysis and write design documents
 Estimate labor for design, development, implementation, and deployment tasks
 Work alone or in a team environment
 Track and report billed time in a thorough and detailed manner
 Manage job and project requirements so that projects are completed on-time and within budget
 Convey project status effectively using status reports and other verbal and written communication
 Participate in BI Team meetings
 Expand knowledge and skills by attending classes, conferences, and/or performing self-study
 Demonstrate good understanding of the business needs driving the project
 Develop understanding of client needs through own initiative to engage in detailed communications, meetings, and correspondence with client and SCS.
 Assist with other duties as requested
 Travel to client sites throughout multi-state geographic area
Knowledge and Skills
 Good oral and written communication skills
 Commercial experience with SQL Server Reporting Services
 Commercial experience designing and implementing a relational data warehouse in SQL Server
 Commercial experience with SQL Server Analysis Services
 Commercial experience with SQL Server Integration Services
 Strong experience with querying relational data using T-SQL
 Strong experience using MDX queries to extract data from SSAS cubes
 Commercial experience with the data mining features of SSAS
 Commercial experience creating SSRS custom extensions
 Commercial experience providing training or mentoring on SSRS, SSAS, or SSIS
Education and Work Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or an equivalent degree
 Consulting experience
 Ability and track record of learning new tools and technologies
Relevant Certifications (highly desired)
 Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: SQL Server, Business Intelligence Development and Maintenance
 Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Business Intelligence
